Et si le magnésium aidait le TDAH?!?

Magnesium File, part 3 of 3, continuation of:But what type of magnesium to choose ????

Far from the idea of telling you to stop the medication of your children ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). But what if we told you that children (and adults, in fact) are proven to be magnesium deficient, and that symptoms can be alleviated with magnesium supplementation?magnesium! Would you be tempted to try Well I was tempted, I tried, and I adopted..

The studies!

A study published in 1997 in the journal Magnesium Research showed that 95% of ADHD children had a magnesium deficiency (77.6% with an evaluation in the hair, 58.6% with an evaluation in the red blood cells and 33.6 % with serum assay).

Another 2016 study, completed on children between the ages of 6 and 16, diagnosed with ADHD, showed that 72% of the children tested had a magnesium deficiency; they found a significant correlation between hair magnesium levels, IQ and hyperactivity.

Deficient children were randomly selected for 2 treatment choices. A standard medication treatment in addition to 200mg/day of magnesium or only the medication treatment, for 8 consecutive weeks. Children also taking magnesium saw a significant decrease in their hyperactivity, impulsivity, inattention, opposition and conceptual levels, compared to those taking only the medication.

Dr. Marianne Moussain-Bosc, now retired pediatrician, has spent much of her career promoting magnesium as an alternative treatment to medication. According to his research, in 9 out of 10 cases, the cause is in fact a family anomaly linked to the transport of magnesium. This can be proven by a dosage of globular magnesium.

Rare is the case where we ask our doctor for a globular dosage!!! So why not try supplementation, to see if the symptoms improve after 2 months of using good magnesium.?

The only contraindication: people with kidney failure should not take supplements without consulting their doctor.

What is meant by family anomaly??

Still according to Dr. Moussain-Bosc, we should look among the grandparents, parents, siblings of children who have magnesium deficiency symptoms of ADHD. Stress, nervousness, spasmophilia (muscle spasms, or tics), hyperexcitability, migraines, emotionality or thyroid disease.

During pregnancy, the mother may have developed depression, fatigue, anxiety, stress, sleep disorders, uterine contractions or a nutritional deficiency.

We talk about attention deficit disorders with hyperactivity (or hyperexcitability) because of these clinical signs:

- impulsiveness : impulsive children often react aggressively, not controlling their actions. Far from wanting to do it on purpose, they often regret their actions afterwards. They rarely have self-confidence, because they are more often blamed than praised. They often suffer, and often feel rejected. Their anger can be intense and hard to control.

- hyperactivity : hyperactivity is noticeable by the way children do not sit still, always having to be on the move, both at school, at home and in sports, which are, of course, very beneficial for them.

- school concentration disorder : School concentration disorder is denoted by the difficulty of these children to keep their attention, to stay focused and calm. They may show a certain delay in certain subjects, despite the fact that their intelligence is normal and that they are interested in multiple activities.

- sleep disorders : these children often have a recurring problem of difficulty falling asleep, and fears, accompanied by nightmares. They are sometimes sleepwalkers, and sleep very restlessly. They often wake up tired in the morning.

- discomfort : they sometimes have discomfort, which can sometimes lead to loss of consciousness.

- abdominal pain : they sometimes have stomach pains, sometimes leading to repetitive vomiting.

- sometimes unexplained fatigue : they are tired children, often inexplicably tired.

- tics : many of these children have tics. Bite their nails, have facial tics or respiratory tics, such as sniffling, coughing or clearing their throat.

- anxiety : these are children who can be stressed, anxious.

- a depressive symptom : some of these children feel bad about themselves, are afraid of people, afraid of being sick, afraid of dying, etc.

Magnesium deficiency is not seen in regular blood tests, experts agree on the subject. Dr Thérèse Ducroux, a pediatrician at the Hôpital des Enfants Malades in Paris, offers a fairly simple way to check whether magnesium can reduce the symptoms of ADHD, the therapeutic load test.

She suggests giving 200mg of magnesium and around 20mg of vitamin B6 (for a 30kg child, to be adjusted according to weight), for a period of 2 to 4 months. Subsequently, the supplementation is stopped, to see if the symptoms reappear.

Difficult to measure, but simple as a technique. To choose the type of magnesium and how to take it, refer to article 2 of the series: More... what type of magnesium to choose.? .

For my part, I have seen a difference in the symptoms of the children. It's up to you to try, and let us know!
