A small dose of vitamin D has been added to prevent a potential epidemic deficiency. Several studies show that a deficiency in vitamin D can promote the development of certain types of cancer, including colorectal, breast, and prostate cancer. Calcium D-glucarate is the salt of D-glucaric acid. Taking a calcium D-glucarate supplement inhibits beta-glucuronidase, a phase 2 detoxification enzyme. Throughout this phase, carcinogenic chemicals, steroid hormones, and other lipophilic toxins bind to glucuronic acid in the liver and are then excreted via the bile pathways. Known since the late 90s, this isothiocyanate is recognized for its anti-cancer properties, notably by inducing cellular apoptosis (death). It also has the ability to reduce estrogen receptors and could detoxify the liver of estrogens and xenoestrogens. It is really important to check the source of sulforaphane as this compound is very fragile.
