Pourquoi est-il si important de se supplémenter en Vitamine D de septembre à mai?

Quite simply because we live in North America. The angle of the Earth doesn't allow us to synthesize vitamin D during this time of year. And moreover, who is going to expose their legs, arms and face for a MINIMUM of 15 minutes every day in winter?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Did you know that the vitamin D expert, Dr. John White, conducts his research at McGill University?  He is a professor of physiology, and has led much of McGill University's vitamin D research. ⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What is the role (or rather THE roles) of vitamin D?

- ‘’Booster’’ number 1 for the immune system. Our great ally against viruses (including COVID).  https://www.lapresse.ca/covid-19/2021-02-10/combattre-le-coronavirus-avec-la-vitamine-d.php⠀And yes, “vitamin D is important for the functioning of the immune system and it has already been shown that vitamin D supplements reduce the risk of viral respiratory infections,” Mr. David Meltzer, the lead author of the statement following a study by researchers at the University of Chicago, recently said.

Selon le Dr. White, « Vitamin D can act in two ways on immunity, he explains. First by stimulating the innate immune system to kill or at least slow the virus, but also by sending a signal aimed at preventing white blood cells from releasing too many inflammatory cytokines.» Or, COVID-19 is known to cause this cytokine storm that can severely damage the lungs, cause acute respiratory distress syndrome and lead to death.

- It supports bone health by improving calcium absorption and promotes skin health.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- It has anti-inflammatory properties⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- It is involved in the synthesis of dopamine (motivation) and serotonin (mood and sleep)⠀⠀⠀
- It has anti-cancer properties⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- It helps prevent SEASONAL DEPRESSION⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Which vitamin D should you get and why is it important? BIOAVAILABILITY

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- In order of efficiency:

1- Liquid Vitamin D3

2- vitamin D3 in capsules

3- vitamin D3 tablet (not really, actually)

4- Vitamin D3 Flintstones-style, crunchy, 99.9% sugar… (Uhhh. No).

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Note that the vitamin D3 + K2 has a better effect on bone health and better utilization of vitamin D.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Also, the oil used is very important. We want a pure, non-rancid oil that is not canola oil, and the presence of antioxidants to prevent its oxidation.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I recommend a high-quality vitamin D, such asATP`, or even Metagenics, Designs For Health. `
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The dosage depends on each person's needs. As a general rule, I recommend 2000 IU / day for a healthy individual (non-athlete). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I also recommend a daily dose instead of a weekly dose.
