How to give your salads a little "kick"?
Adding caramelized nuts!
Recently, I had fun experimenting with different ways to "caramelize" my pecans. Maple syrup and honey are always winners, but what I really like is using a balsamic vinegar infused with Bourbon and Maple!
Pure happiness in every bite!
How to make caramelized pecans?
It's very simple. You need a handful of whole pecans, a bit of butter, and a Bourbon and Maple balsamic vinegar.
- In a pan over medium heat, toast 1/2 cup of pecans for 3 minutes or until they start to brown.
- Add 1 tbsp of butter and make sure the melted butter coats them well.
- Add 2 tbsp of Bourbon and Maple balsamic vinegar. Pepper.
- Continue cooking the pecans for about 2 minutes, stirring regularly.
- When the balsamic vinegar thickens and sticks to the nuts, you can remove from the heat and let the nuts cool slightly.
Presentation suggestion
Serve on a spinach and avocado salad with the dressing of your choice, or on a spring mix salad topped with strips of grilled chicken.
A real delight!
